  • Choose a sunny location on the East or South facing side of your house; Morning sun is preferable.

  • To be mounted on the side of a building, barn, shed, or house, and ideally in early spring.

  • It could take some time for bats to begin using the house.

  • When inspecting the house for bats, do not shine lights inside the house for longer than a few seconds or, wait until sunset and see if bats exit the house. Bat guano beneath the house is also an indicator of use.

  • If after a year you still do not see any bats, you should try relocating the bat house to a place with more or less direct sunlight, as temperature regulation is the biggest cause of failure.

  • The bat house weighs 11 lbs. Secure accordingly.
